Frequently Asked Questions

Is PCAF free?

As outlined in our mission statement, all current PCAF programming and events are free. Some events may require bookings due to limited space.

We’re a registered not-for-profit organisation run by a committee of volunteers who love comics. You can see the current committee line up here.

There are a few ways to get involved and support PCAF:

If you have ideas or questions, please drop us a line!

Great question! We recommend coming to our monthly PCAF Academy meetups, where you can meet and learn from other comic creators. If you’re local, you can also join the Facebook group and ask questions there.

But really, as long as you have drawing utensils –– even if that’s just a notebook and a pencil –– that’s all you need! There’s no secret recipe, and sometimes the hardest part is just getting started. Don’t worry about if you’ll be able to do your epic concepts justice, and just get comfortable making comics with whatever ideas come into your head.

Start sketching comics and feel out what works for you, as everyone’s process and goals are different. It’s okay if those first attempts stay in your sketchbooks, but you can also try making short zines out of the ones that feel worth sharing. Many PCAF exhibitors get started that way.

See our Comics in WA page for more local inspiration and resources.
