Sarah Winifred Searle writes and draws comics, exploring themes of identity, health, relationships, and history across many genres. The Greatest Thing, their YA graphic novel, is a Lammy Award and CBCA Book of the Year finalist and Prime Minister’s Literary Award winner. Their other books include Patience & Esther, A Home in Her, and The Sweetness Between Us.
My Time at PCAF
Meeting the strong community of comic creators here played a huge part in making this place feel like home when I was thinking about moving to Boorloo ten years ago. It’s been an absolute pleasure and privilege to support this community through volunteering for PCAF and watching its vibrancy grow. Though I was part of the original group who co-founded PCAF, I was more of a casual helper before my involvement increased over the last few years. I was previously Deputy Chair before transitioning to my current position of Relationships Director, where I now manage festival partnerships and collaborations.
About Me
Writing and drawing comics is my full-time job, usually in the form of graphic novels. Some have been shortlisted for, and sometimes even won(!?), fancy awards. When I’m not making comics for work, you can find me making comics for fun, or reading comics, or writing giant piles of emails for this here comics festival. I live with my beloved spouse and cat, whom I greatly appreciate for their important reminders that there are other nice things in this world besides comics.
