Comic Creator Hot Desk Fellow: Oscar McKay

🌟 Give a massive hello to the Centre for Stories Comic Creator Hot Desk Fellow; Ocsar McKay!! 🌟

Over the past 10 consecutive weeks, Oscar has been busy at work on their comic Avoidance at the dedicated workspace at the Centre for Stories and with mentorship check-ins to enhance their creative process.

Avoidance is a comic about Barb, an uptight administrator of a time travel gate, takes increasingly convoluted lengths to avoid a visit from Roa, an ex-girlfriend that she once stranded on Jupiter’s moon. Barb is joined by her erratic and excitable colleague Olive, who doesn’t know the real reason behind her sudden impulsivity.

Be sure to give the Centre for Stories table a visit on Market Day where you can meet Oscar and celebrate the debut of their comic and all the wonderful work they have done during this fellowship!

You can find the Centre for Stories and Oscar at Table E25 in the PCAF Market Hall!

Oscar is a queer comic creator in Boorloo/Perth that balances siliness and sincerity.
They’ve published works about the rise of artificial intelligence (and what it means for artists), fighting one’s inner demons, the value of friendship, how hot chips are really good, and wacky space adventures.
They gravitate towards character-driven narratives and enjoy using fantastical elements as a way to approach difficult or complex subjects.

Follow Oscar on their Instagram and head to their Portfolio to see more of their amazing work!

Thank you again to Centre for Stories for helping to support and foster the local comic arts community here in Perth!
