Western Australia has made a big splash at the 2025 Comic Art Awards of Australia, with a third of the nominated works on the shortlist having been created in the state. The Comic Art Awards of Australia acknowledges excellence in Australian comic art and publishing, awarding Gold, Silver and Bronze Ledger Awards to celebrate creativity, craft and execution. Of the 28 comics shortlisted, 11 have been brought to life by creators living and working in Western Australia.

Australia’s biggest comics literary festival returns to Perth over the last weekend of July at the State Library of Western Australia, with a stunning assortment of international stars, national guests, a packed market hall of independent creators and free, family-friendly workshops. Perth Comic Arts Festival returns at the end of July! Perth’s FREE annual comic book festival is back over the last weekend of July with a packed market hall of independent creators, family friendly workshops, and a chance to make history by contributing to Australia’s longest scroll comic! On Sunday the 30th, Perth Comic Arts Festival’s famous Market Hall Day will showcase over 80 creators, all under the big whale skeleton at WA Museum Boola Bardip’s heritage-listed Hackett Hall.
